MTPC’s “I AM: Transgender People Speak”

Written on November 15, 2010 Categories: LGBT, Political Events

I was in Boston last night working for The Rainbow Times covering Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition’s opening of their new multi-media awareness campaign “I AM: Trans People Speak“. It was great to see a number of my friends there, and as always it was wonderful to meet new friends as well. This is an amazing project aimed at “challenging the stereotypes and misconceptions of transgender people about the trans community” and at bringing attention to the lack of anti-discrimination laws in Massachusetts. Other groups, including nAGLY, GLAD and Transcend were well represented and the turnout was HUGE! If you want to see all the photos see them on The Rainbow Times Facebook Fan Page!

Bella Luna/Milky Way at the Brewery Complex served up the drinks and appetizers in a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Gunner Scott, Jesse Begenyl and their team have just begun a great educational project and I hope it gets lots of support and coverage in months to come. MTPC is working hard to pass their Transgender Civil Rights bill, same as we are here in CT. If you are transgender, have a transgender spouse, child or relative or are an ally and have a story, they are looking to hear from you!
